"Kopitiam Days" explores human connection through Singapore's beloved kopitiam culture
17 Jul - The highly anticipated local anthology film "Kopitiam Days" will have its world premiere on Tuesday, 5 August 2025 in the prestigious Sands Theatre at Marina Bay Sands, in front of an audience of over 1,100 guests.

This event will be graced by President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Ms Jane Ittogi in celebration of Singapore's 60th year of independence.

"Kopitiam Days" is helmed by Executive producer and Creative Director Eric Khoo in collaboration with six rising Singaporean Directors- Yeo Siew Hua, Shoki Lin, M. Raihan Halim, Tan Siyou, Don Aravind and Ong Kuo Sin - each contributing a distinct voice to the evocative anthology. Comprising six interconnected stories, the film masterfully weaves together themes of human connection, reconciliation and the enduring spirit of our diverse nation.

Complementing their vision is a stellar ensemble cast including Richie Koh, Xenia Tan, Tay Ping Hui, Jasmine Sim, Chen Tian Wen, Hong Hui Fang, Zhu Hou Ren, Zaliha Hamid, Siti Khalijah, Iris Li, Stephen Zechariah, Keerthana, Yang Shi Bin, Yvonne Lim and Jennifer Wilkinson.

The red carpet will be attended by the Executive producers; Eric Khoo, Lim Teck alongside the film's six directors, over 15 key cast members. Also attending are Senior Minister of State for Digital Development and Information, Mr Tan Kiat How, Minister for Digital Development and Information, Mrs Josephine Teo, as well as the Guests of Honour, Mr President and Ms Ittogi.

In a departure from traditional theatrical releases, the film will also embark on a community outreach initiative, with special screenings to be held at community hubs and centres across the island, bringing the stories closer to the heartlands and fostering a shared cinematic experience for all.

The humble kopitiam- more than a setting- becomes a living symbol of community, memory and continuity, reflecting our past, anchoring our present, and looking towards our future. Through its quiet observation, the kopitiam unveils the interwoven stories of strangers who find solace, love, and connection within Singapore's unique social fabric.
