11 Nov - It looks like a win for "Predator: Badlands," after the movie kicked off its three-day opening by becoming the biggest opening in the "Predator" franchise.

The movie, which opened on 7 November, made USD 40 million at the box office, and another USD 40 million overseas, bringing a global total of USD 80 million.

Helmed by Dan Trachtenberg ("10 Cloverfield Lane"), it also ended the lacklustre box office numbers of October, and surpassed 2018's "The Predator" which opened to USD 73.5 million.

On the other hand, Blumhouses' "Black Phone 2" managed to make USD 120.4 million in its fourth weekend, a success considering its USD 30 million budget sans marketing.

"Predator: Badlands" stars Elle Fanning and Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi, and revolves around a young Predator called Dek who forms an unlikely alliance with Thia, a damaged Weyland-Yutani synthetic, as they face off against a terrifying apex creature that challenges both human and Predator instincts for survival.
