Simon Yam to receive Lifetime Achievement Award at APFF

The award celebrates Simon Yam's remarkable four-decade career

14 Oct - The 62nd Asia-Pacific Film Festival (APFF), set to run from 29 November to 6 December 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, has announced that acclaimed Hong Kong actor Simon Yam will be presented with the festival's Lifetime Achievement Award.

Known for his magnetic screen presence and wide-ranging performances, Simon Yam has appeared in over 200 films across genres, from crime thrillers and action blockbusters to arthouse dramas. His most notable works include "Election", "PTU", "Kill Zone - S.P.L.", "Exiled", and "Eye in the Sky", as well as international projects such as "Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life".

In addition to his prolific acting career, Simon Yam is celebrated for his contributions to elevating Hong Kong cinema on the global stage, inspiring generations of actors and filmmakers throughout Asia.

Simon Yam said: "I am deeply grateful to APFF for this honour - it means a great deal to me at this stage of my career, and it serves as an encouragement to continue doing what I love. I am truly happy that my work has been recognised and appreciated by audiences over the years. For me, the Lifetime Achievement Award is not an ending, but a new beginning. I look forward to taking on more challenging roles and projects in the future, and I hope to continue earning everyone's love and support. This is a new chapter, and I'm ready for it."

The 62nd APFF is organised by Lomo Pictures Sdn. Bhd., endorsed by the Federation of Motion Picture Producers in Asia-Pacific (FPA), and supported by the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS).
