28 Oct - After finding their new version of Rico Tubbs, it was revealed that Universal has now found their "Miami Vice" movie's Sony Crockett.

Austin Butler reportedly in talks to play the character, made famous in the 1980s by Don Johnson. The "Elvis" star will be collaborating with Michael B. Jordan, who was previously announced as the new Rico Tubbs.

The new project is penned by Eric Warren Singer and Dan Gilroy, with Joseph Kosinski, who has been enjoying a string of successes with movies like "Top Gun: Maverick" and "F1", in the director's seat.

The upcoming movie reportedly will be inspired by the original show's pilot episode and first season, with the movie's release schedule tentatively being August 2027.

Butler was last seen in the black comedy, "Caught Stealing".
