2 Oct - Shah Rukh Khan has emerged as India's most prolific star, in a report by IMDb titled "25 Years of Indian Cinema". The actor, as IMDb revealed, was revealed to have dominated the early 2000s, featuring in eight of the 25 most popular films released between 2000 to 2004, and headlining the top movies for five consecutive years during the said time period. It was also revealed that even during the years with no film releases, SRK maintained a strong presence in the industry, and appeared in the top 10 of IMDb's Popular Indian Celebrities list every week throughout 2024.
"It's pleasantly surprising and encouraging to see the impact films that I have been a part of have made. The goal has always been to entertain people and win over their love through storytelling. It's always been my belief that the power of cinema lies in the fact that it can transcend boundaries of language and culture," said SRK about the report.
Hrithik Roshan appeared in four most popular movies the first five years of this century, while Aamir Khan, Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar and Kamal Haasan each starred in two. The study is based on over 9.1 million user ratings worldwide.
