5 May - Marvel's "Thunderbolts" is leading the US box office list after amassing USD 162.1 million globally.

The film, which kicked off the summer box office when it was released on 2 May, achieved more than expected by accumulating USD 76 million in the US from 4,330 theatres, while earning USD 86.1 million overseas.


Despite featuring mostly unknown characters to the public, the film became more popular with ethnically diverse audience instead of Marvel's usual male fanbase.

The film, directed by Jake Schreier, features lesser-known comic book characters like John Walker (played by Wyatt Russell), Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian (played by David Harbour), Bob (Lewis Pullman), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), in addition to Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova and Sebastian Stan's Bucky.

Meanwhile, "A Minecraft Movie" has now climbed up the chart again to third place, amassing USD 873.4 million at the box office.
