9 Jun - Tom Cruise may not have an Oscar to his name, but he now earns a Guinness World Record for his work in "Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning".

The actor has now set the record for most burning parachute jumps by an individual, following his stunt of jumping out of a helicopter with a fuel-soaked parachute set ablaze for the final installment in the action franchise. Which he did 16 times!

In a statement released by Craig Glenday, Guinness World Records editor-in-chief, "Tom doesn't just play action heroes - he is an action hero! A large part of his success can be chalked up to his absolute focus on authenticity and pushing the boundaries of what a leading man can do."

"It's an honour to be able to recognise his utter fearlessness with this new Guinness World Records title," he added.

The stunt, which was filmed in Drakensberg, South Africa, had Cruise attaching a 50 lb. snorri camera rig to his body for a closer shot. He then jumped from a chopper at 75,000 feet with the parachute that he then set ablaze before cutting it free and deploying a backup parachute as he descended.
