The POTUS orders 100% tariff on films made outside the US
6 May - Donald Trump seems adamant in creating headaches in the global movie industry, as he recently announced that he has directed his administrations to put a 100 percent tariff on films not produced in the US.

The 47th President of the United States of America shared as much on his social media platform, Truth Social, saying, "The Movie Industry in America is DYING a very fast death. Other countries are offering all sorts of incentives to draw our filmmakers and studios away from the United States. Hollywood, and many other areas within the USA, are being devastated."

"This is a concerted effort by other Nations and, therefore, a National Security threat. It is, in addition to everything else, messaging and propaganda!" he added.

Trump said that he is authorising the Department of Commerce and the United States Trade Representative to immediately begin the process of instituting a 100 percent tariff on any and all movies coming to the US that are produced in foreign lands.

It is noted that many Hollywood studios have been filming their movies in other countries like the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Spain for tax incentives.

There are a huge number of films being filmed overseas that are releasing soon that are now at risk of getting hit with the tariff. This include "Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning", which was shot in multiple countries, the John Wick spinoff "Ballerina" that had been filming in the Czech Republic, as well as "Avatar: Fire and Ash" that was shot in New Zealand.

Other films that could be hit with the tariff include Marvel Studios' "Avengers: Doomsday", which has begun filming in London, as well as "Star Wars: Starfighter", which is also being shot in the UK.
