"28 Years Later: The Bone Temple" couldn't surpass "Avatar: Fire and Ash"

"28 Years Later: The Bone Temple" can't dethrone "Avatar 3"
20 Jan - "Avatar: Fire and Ash" has burnt another competition away, as "28 Years Later: The Bone Temple" failed to topple it from being number one.

The zombie picture, which made its debut on 14 January, made USD 13 million in North America and collected USD 16.2 million overseas, bringing a total of USD 31.1 million globally.

It is noted that the film is made with a budget of USD 63 million, which is Sony's biggest yet for the title.

Meanwhile, the third Avatar film continues its reign in the fifth week, and has now made USD 1.31 billion globally.

However, though the film is besting competition left and right, the movie is still considered not as successful as James Cameron's previous "Avatar" films. The first Avatar movie made USD 2.9 billion and is still the highest-grossing movie of all time, while the second movie, "The Way of Water" made USD 2.3 billion when it was released a few years ago.

"Fire and Ash" is a success but not as successful as its predecessors
