5 Mar - Anna Camp has recently apologised about her social media post that many took as a mockery towards the boycott campaign against "Scream 7".

The actress, who plays the role of Jessica Bowden in the latest instalment of the horror franchise, recently posted an image on Instagram Story that she set to Taylor Swift's song, "Karma," after it was revealed that the film opened to USD 97.2 million worldwide, more than the previous film.

The post read, "The boycott didn't work. The critics hate didn't work. The pathetic leaks didn't work. What worked was audiences coming out and making the film a success."

Following backlash from many, Camp deleted the post and wrote a following statement, saying that the post does not reflect her personal beliefs on the matter.

"I have since deleted the repost because I absolutely meant no harm. I'm sorry to anyone who was affected," she said.

"Scream" fans previously called for a boycott of the seventh film, after lead actress Melissa Barrera was fired from the franchise. Barrera, known for her pro-Palestinian views, were accused of being antisemitic, sparking anger among many of the franchise's fans.

Following her termination, fellow co-star Jenna Ortega decided to depart from the project as well, prompting the team to re-strategise by bringing back franchise original star, Neve Campbell.
