6 Jan - James Cameron's "Avatar: Fire and Ash" has now surpassed the USD 1 billion mark in its third weekend.

The movie made USD 771.1 million overseas through Sunday, and another USD 303 million in North America, bringing a global tally of USD 1.083 billion.

This makes Cameron the only filmmaker whose threequels successfully crossed USD 1 billion at the box office. However, the filmmaker might not be as ecstatic, as he needs the movie to surpass USD 2 billion to convince him to justify making the fourth and fifth films.

On the other hand, "Zootopia 2" has added another USD 18 million to its box office takings, bringing a total of USD 1.588 billion at the box office.

The film will need more than USD 70 million to surpass "The Lion King" live-action film at number three of the highest grossing animated films of all time.

"Zootopia 2" is now at USD 1.588 billion
