5 Feb - Disney has now announced a new CEO to succeed current chief, Bob Iger.

On 3 February, Josh D'Amaro, currently chairman of Disney Experiences, was named Disney's next CEO, with Iger stating, "Josh D'Amaro is an exceptional leader and the right person to become our next CEO."

"He has an instinctive appreciation of the Disney brand, and a deep understanding of what resonates with our audiences, paired with the rigor and attention to detail required to deliver some of our most ambitious projects," he added.

D'Amaro, who will be taking over officially in March this year, expressed, "I am immensely grateful to the Board for entrusting me with leading a company that means so much to me and millions around the world. Disney's strength has always come from our people and the creative excellence that defines our stories and experiences. There is no limit to what Disney can achieve."

D'Amaro began his Disney career at the Disneyland Resort, working in sales, travel trade marketing and business planning roles throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, before serving as chief financial officer of Disney Consumer Products Global Licensing.

He then became vice president of Disney's Animal Kingdom from 2013 to 2014 and president of Disneyland Resort in 2018.

In May 2020, D'Amaro was appointed chairman of Disney Experiences, where he was given the task to handle the company's global parks, resorts, cruise line and consumer products.
