27 Feb - Hilary Duff recently took to social media to express her sadness over the passing of actor Robert Carradine.

Sharing a couple of photos of herself with the actor, whom she worked with on the set of Disney's "Lizzie McGuire" in the early 2000s, the singer-actress wrote, "This one hurts. It's really hard to face this reality about an old friend. There was so much warmth in the McGuire family and I always felt so cared for by my on-screen parents. I'll be forever grateful for that."

"I'm deeply sad to learn Bobby was suffering. My heart aches for him, his family, and everyone who loved him," she added.

Carradine played Sam McGuire, the father and breadwinner of the McGuire family in the comedy series that was first aired in 2001.

In a statement to the media on 25 February, his family said the actor took his own life after living with bipolar disorder for nearly two decades. Brother Keith Carradine also emphasised that there is no shame in the illness.

He was 71.
