"Hoppers" remains at the top at the US box office

17 Mar - Pixar continues to score a win with its latest original animation, as "Hoppers" maintains its reign at the US box office in its second weekend of release.

The film has amassed another USD 31 million internationally and USD 28.5 million in North America, bringing a total of USD 77.5 million. Globally, it has now collected USD 164.7 million, making it the top-grossing animated film of 2026 yet.

The movie has already made a record as the biggest launch for a Hollywood original title with USD 88 million last week, the first since Pixar's "Coco" in 2017.

"Hoppers," directed by Daniel Chong ("We Bare Bears"), follows Mabel Tanaka, an animal lover, whose mind is transferred into a lifelike robotic beaver to communicate with animals and save their habitat from human destruction, inadvertently starting an uprising in doing so.

Voiced by Piper Curda, the movie also boasts a star-studded cast that include Bobby Moynihan, Jon Hamm, Dave Franco, and even Meryl Streep.

"Coco" was the last original animated feature that had a big opening number
