7 Jan - If there is one movie "that got away" for Jack Black, it would be the animated feature, "The Incredibles".

The 56-year-old actor shared as much in a recent radio interview, saying that he was offered to voice the character of the villainous Syndrome, which eventually went to Jason Lee.

"And I said no because I was like, 'Uhhh, [director] Brad Bird? Never heard of him!'" Black said.

Black admitted that he had an issue with how Syndrome was written, which he thought to be one-dimensional. However, upon asking for a rewrite, Black found himself losing the job altogether.

The character Syndrome, aka Buddy Pine, is an obsessed fan of Mr. Incredible who turns into a supervillain after being rejected as a sidekick by the superhero.

The movie then went to become a box office hit, earning over USD 630 million at the box office, and also a favourite of Black.

"I learned a valuable lesson because when that movie came out, it was one of the best movies ever made," the "Anaconda" star said. "I was like, 'Why was I being so difficult?!'"

"My Name is Earl" star Jason Lee finally got the role
