Admitting that he was surprised and wasn't planning on anything, Elordi expressed, "Thank you, Guillermo del Toro. I love you. We all love you. You made my dreams when I was 11. I'm so happy to be here."

He also thanked his parents in his speech.

Elordi bested other senior contenders like Benicio del Toro ("One Battle After Another"), Sean Penn ("One Battle After Another") and Stellan Skarsgård ("Sentimental Value").
