Jameela Jamil says feminism "doesn't mean you have to like every single woman"

26 Jan - Jameela Jamil has recently addressed the recent text exchange between her and Justin Baldoni's publicist Jennifer Abel, after it circulated the Internet following the unsealing of documents amid the "It Ends With Us" battle between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni.

In the interaction between Jamil and publicist Abel, the latter who also represents "The Good Place" actress, Jamil referred to a TikTok video criticising Blake Lively for not being serious enough about a movie centering on domestic abuse.

Jamil posted, "She's a suicide bomber at this point." She also texted, "I've never seen such a bizarre villain act before."

In response to some media saying that her "feminist image" may be tainted over the issue, Jamil posted on Instagram Story, saying, "Guys, feminism means fighting for the political, social and economic equity for women. Just gender equity."

"It does not mean you have to like every single woman. It doesn't mean you have to be friends with every single woman. It means you can actually beef with other women. You can criticise them. You can do whatever you want, as long as you are also fighting for their human rights to the same things that men have in this world."

She continued, "That's all feminism is. It's a moral and political stance. It is not a sleepover where we braid each other's pubes, OK? So if you are fighting for women's rights, but you don't get along with every single woman, it doesn't make you a bad feminist."

Jamil later shared another Story, saying that she is surprised and touched to receive many lovely and supportive messages.
