24 Jul - The highly-anticipated sequel of "Days of Thunder" has now found a director in Jonathan Levine.

The filmmaker will be helming the project, which will see the return of Tom Cruise as NASCAR driver Cole Trickle.

The news came amid the praise Levine received during test screenings for the upcoming sports drama, "Mr. Irrelevant," which stars David Corenswet and will be released in December.

Details regarding the new movie are being kept hush-hush, with the script written by Will Staples ("Call of Duty 3: Modern Warfare").

The original movie, released in 1990, also starred Robert Duvall and Nicole Kidman, as well as Cary Elwes and Randy Quaid.
