Mark Wahlberg sends greetings from Malaysia after a Sunday church service

13 Jul - Malaysian fans and Penangites in particular were elated to find out that Hollywood actor Mark Wahlberg is in the country to shoot his new Netflix film, "The Big Fix".

His appearance in Georgetown on 11 July was captured by passersby and went viral online, with many querying as to why the actor was in Malaysia in the first place.

When asked about it, Penang Island City Council mayor Datuk A Rajendran stated that the movie has been filming since Friday (10 July) and will go on for two weeks.

Among the locations involved are Lorong Kulit, City Stadium, Batu Kawan Stadium, and Macallum Field.

In "The Big Fix," Wahlberg plays a former Interpol officer working inside the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) who uncovers a global match-fixing operation. What begins as an investigation quickly escalates into a high-stakes pursuit, as he closes in on a well-connected fixer aligned with Chinese Triads.

Other stars include Riz Ahmed, Zlatko Burić, Chin Han, Natalie Dormer and Susan Lynch. It is directed by Baltasar Kormákur ("Everest").
