12 May – Martin Short has recently opened up regarding the loss of his daughter Katherine, who died from suicide back in February. The comedian, who spoke to CBS Sunday Morning about his 42-year-old daughter's passing, admitted that the tragedy was a nightmare for the whole family. "But the understanding [is] that mental health and cancer, like my wife's, are both diseases, and sometimes with diseases they are terminal. And my daughter fought for a long time with extreme mental health, borderline personality disorder, other things, and did the best she could until she couldn't," he said.
It is noted that Katherine, who was the eldest of the three adopted children of Short and late wife, Nancy Dolman, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. She had been an advocate of mental health, and worked with the charity Bring Change 2 Mind, which focuses on reducing stigma around mental illness. Dolman, on the other hand, passed away in 2010 from ovarian cancer. The comedian will be featured in a new Netflix documentary, "Marty, Life is Short," to be making its debut on 12 May.
