"Avatar 4" casts Michelle Yeoh, if it gets made
16 Jan - Michelle Yeoh is set to join the "Avatar" franchise in its fourth and fifth instalments, though James Cameron has made it clear that's a big "if."

The director has confirmed that the Malaysian Oscar-winning actress will appear in the upcoming films - provided they get the green light to proceed.

"Michelle is definitely going to be in 4, if we make 4," Cameron stated, before elaborating on the uncertainty surrounding the franchise's future. "The movie industry is depressed right now. "Avatar: Fire and Ash"'s box office performance has been terrific. But despite the third film raking in USD 1.23 billion globally thus far, Cameron previously told Entertainment Weekly that he would "hold a press conference" to reveal the story plans if films four and five don't materialise.

The actress was first announced for the role of Dr. Karina Mogue back in 2019, though Cameron later clarified she wouldn't appear in "Fire and Ash."

Like "The Way of Water" and "Fire and Ash," the fourth and fifth films would be shot simultaneously as "one big story."

For her part, Michelle has expressed nothing but enthusiasm, "I would be the tea lady for James Cameron!"
