"Spider-Man: Brand New Day" hits USD1 billion, second fastest ever after "Endgame"

6 Aug - "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" has done it again, breaking another record for Marvel Studios, this time for becoming the first film post-COVID to surpass USD 1 billion globally in just six days.

The movie, which has already broken "Avengers: Endgame" record to be the North America highest-grossing movie opening of all time, has now reached the milestone after six days of release.

However, it did not manage to best "Endgame," which made USD 1.2 billion worldwide in its opening weekend.

Said Marvel's Kevin Feige, "I did not expect 'Endgame's' [domestic] record to be beat, but I couldn't be happier that it was beat this past weekend by our 38th MCU movie. It's overwhelming, frankly, to find ourselves in this position on a Monday morning - in the very best way."

The next Marvel movie to be released is "Avengers: Doomsday," which will see Robert Downey Jr. returning to the franchise but as Doctor Doom.

"Spider-Man: Brand New Day" is the fourth film to earn USD 1 billion following "The Super Mario Galaxy Movie" (USD 1.001 billion), "Michael" (USD 1.001 billion) and "Toy Story 5" (USD 1.067 billion). Meanwhile, Christopher Nolan's "The Odyssey" is following close behind at USD 912 million.
