26 Aug - Deadpool himself has now admitted defeat as Odysseus surpasses him at the box office, with "The Odyssey" becoming the highest grossing R-rated movie of all time. The Christopher Nolan epic has now made over USD 1.352 billion at the global box office, surpassing the previously record held by "Deadpool & Wolverine" at USD 1.338 billion when it was released in 2024.
Conceding the fact was actor-producer Ryan Reynolds, who posted on X, "Congratulations to the entire cast and crew of The Odyssey for becoming the highest grossing R-rated movie of all time. That is one helluva car."
"The Odyssey" stars Matt Damon as the Greek king of Ithaca who sets out on a journey home to his wife Penelope (Anne Hathaway) and son Telemachus (Tom Holland), and faces various challenges and obstacles along the way. "Deadpool & Wolverine" was the third Deadpool movie, and the first directed by Shawn Levy. It co-stars Hugh Jackman, who reprised his role as the X-Men character, Wolverine.
