6 Apr - "The Super Mario Galaxy Movie" is an animated force to be reckoned with, as it has now opened to an estimated USD 372.5 million globally.

The movie, which is the continuation of the 2023 film, "The Super Mario Movie," opened in the US with USD 190.1 million over the five-day Easter period, with USD 130.9 million coming from its three-day weekend.

Meanwhile, the film did exceptionally well internationally with an estimated USD 182.4 million from 80 markets.

This also meant that the movie is this year's biggest three-day opening globally, surpassing the record previously held by Ryan Gosling-starrer, "Project Hail Mary". It is also the fifth-biggest opening for an animated title behind "Zootopia 2," "Moana 2," "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" and "Ne Zha 2".

Meanwhile, "Project Hail Mary" has now crossed the USD 400 million mark at the global box office in its third weekend.
