7 Jan - It looks like "Zootopia 2" is truly beloved in China, as the movie has now surpassed "Avengers: Endgame" to be the highest-grossing imported film of all time in China.

According to Global Times, the movie has now made RMB 4.251 billion at the box office, which is approximately USD 608 million, besting the previous record held by the Marvel film at USD 607 million.

According to Zhang Peng, an associate professor at Nanjing Normal University, "The core advantage of 'Zootopia 2' lies in its franchise momentum combined with precise localisation."

"The first film built a strong reputation, and the sequel extends its social allegory through a mystery-driven narrative that aligns with Chinese audiences' growing preference for story-driven content," he added.

The animated feature has also scored 8.4 on Chinese rating platform, Douban, with users singing praises for the film.
