COP OUT

Directed by Kevin Smith ("Zack and Miri Make a Porno"), "A Couple of Dicks" features two longtime NYPD partners on the trail of a stolen, rare, mint-condition baseball card who find themselves up against a merciless, memorabilia-obsessed gangster. Jimmy (Bruce Willis) is the veteran detective whose missing collectible is his only hope to pay for his daughter`s upcoming wedding, and Paul (Tracy Morgan) is his "partner-against-crime" whose preoccupation with his wife`s alleged infidelity makes it hard for him to keep his eye on the ball.

Director Kevin Smith ("Zack And Miri Make A Porno") delivers a comedy about a veteran cop Jimmy (played by Bruce Willis) who loses a rare baseball card that was planned to help pay off his daughter's wedding. Eventually, this forces Jimmy to go on a search together with his partner in crime Paul (played by Tracy Morgan) for the thief, who happens to be a memorabilia obsessed gangster.

Originally titled "A Couple Of Dicks", "Cop Out" has a rather conventional storyline which serves to be quite disappointing knowing that Smith can do so much better than this in terms of the entertainment value like in the comedy "Zack And Miri Made A Porno". The humour and dialog can be quite enjoyable, however some will just fall flat and while the action genre is not of Kevin Smith's specialty, the movie served to be satisfactory.

Meanwhile, the cast members are not to be toyed with. The on-screen chemistry between Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan are very compatible. Somehow this reviewer feels that comedian Tracy Morgan outshines his co-actor due to the fact that he is more in his zone of expertise - comedy. Although Bruce Willis has acted in many serious leads like "The Surrogates" and "Armageddon", he never fails to give us a good performance as a man on a mission. Besides the two leads, "Cop Out" also stars Sean William Scott, Kevin Pollack, Adam Brody and Michelle Trachtenberg.

Overall, "Cop Out" is a pretty average movie with descent jokes and slap stick humour performed by these well established actors.
