It's common for most girls out there to wish for a married life with that one person you love. But what's a girl got to do when she finds out her time of finding her life partner is almost up? Well in the case of Ally Darling (Anna Faris), she panics after reading an article in a woman's magazine and realizes that her number of past lovers, is almost double the national average. Believing that she's just one step closer to spinsterhood, and with the help of her across-the-hall neighbour, Colin Shea (Chris Evans), she goes on a hunt, tracing back her ex-boyfriends in the hope that one of them could be 'The One'.
Anna Faris did a good job playing the lively and likeable Ally Darling, which comes naturally for her. Her charm and funny antics sure keeps audiences entertained throughout the movie. As for Chris Evans, he and Faris noticeably share some good chemistry together. And something for the ladies to look out for- Evan's character seems to prefer being half naked most of the time in this movie, not that anyone's complaining.
Storyline wise, there's nothing special to shout about. The setup is generated from the same formula of a typical rom-com. There's the girl who is looking for 'The One', the loving sister, a very-hard-to-please mother, supportive father and a messed up dating past. It's an easy prediction for the audiences to find out what happens at the end.
However, you still need to give some credit to some of the funny scenes. One in particular is when Ally goes on a date with her ex, who happens to be an English gentleman. Ally pretends to be English and does a good job with the accent at first, but later on starts losing her flair and turns into a Yorkshire sounding Eliza Doolittle and eventually, Borat.
At the end of the day, this movie is still an entertaining piece to watch although the story is quite standard and it doesn't really promise anything special, but nonetheless, it is still worthy for the laughs it manages to bring.
