The Mechanic

Arthur Bishop (Jason Statham) is a `mechanic` - an elite assassin with a strict code and unique talent for cleanly eliminating targets. It`s a job that requires professional perfection and total detachment, and Bishop is the best in the business. But when his mentor and close friend Harry (Donald Sutherland) is murdered, Bishop is anything but detached. His next assignment is self-imposed - he wants those responsible dead. His mission grows complicated when Harry`s son Steve (Ben Foster) approaches him with the same vengeful goal and a determination to learn Bishop`s trade. Bishop has always acted alone but he can`t turn his back on Harry`s son. A methodical hit man takes an impulsive student deep into his world and a deadly partnership is born. But while in pursuit of their ultimate mark, deceptions threaten to surface and those hired to fix problems become problems themselves.

Watch this if you liked: “The Transporter” series, 1972’s “The Mechanic”, “The Expendables”

Jason Statham could do no wrong after starring in "The Expendables" alongside hot-shot action superstars and with the remake of 1972's "The Mechanic" starring Charles Bronson, it is no different. "The Mechanic" is like any typical movies that Jason Statham has acted in but this time it comes with extra brutality and this action-packed flick generally overshadows "The Expendables" with its plot.

The movie is about Arthur Bishop (Jason Statham), a professional hitman who is also known as 'The Mechanic' due to his abilities to stage each of his assassination mission into what seem to be accidents. Later on, things get a bit dicey when his wheelchair-bound boss Harry McKenna (Donald Sutherland) is murderd and McKenna's vengeful son Steve (Ben Foster) comes looking for him to seek a 101 training to seek revenge for his father's death as well as to continue on his father's assassin business.

The reviewer feels that Ben Foster's performance as the son of Bishop's closest friend is commendable as he is able to portray the slightly psychotic look in his eyes that he had back in "Six Feet Under", putting him as close as he can get to the already-established Statham. Meanwhile Donald Sutherland's performance in this movie is nevertheless laudable as the veteran actor will leave the audience entertained with his witty remarks and dialogues as McKenna.

"The Mechanic" is a recommended go for all fans of the action genre as well as Statham fans who would not want to miss seeing their favourite action superstar perform hardcore stunts and even more brutal scenes.
