Way back in 1971, Dr. Seuss presented kids around the world with "The Lorax", a children's book that focuses on how an industrialised society can destroy nature. Dr. Seuss fans might have read it during their younger days and still remember how the story had amazed them, however today, old fans and new fans alike will have the chance to relive their childhood memories as the new generation of animators are bringing the classic tale alive for the very first time on the silver screen.

Apart from being an animation, "The Lorax" is also a musical comedy-drama movie directed by Academy Award nominee Chris Renaud and his co-director Kyle Balda. "The Lorax" follows a curious boy by the name of Ted (Zac Efron), who is eager to discover the story of the mysterious Lorax (Danny Devito) from the Once-ler (Ed Helms), in order to plant a tree for his crush, Audrey (Taylor Swift) and the citizens of Thneed-Ville.

The character of Once-ler represents the greedy attitude of humans towards money and their own interests. His lack of consideration for Mother Nature reminds you of the level of awareness which is present in our current society.

On the other hand, the Lorax shows a more caring and affectionate being for the environment, by doing everything it can to stop Once-ler from destroying nature. The main purpose of having the cute yet magical Lorax in the story is obviously to serve as an appealing icon to the younger generation, as it carries the message of the movie across to the audience in various hilarious ways.

Audiences should give credit to the team that put so much of effort in creating all the interesting characters, especially the Lorax. Having comedian Danny Devito's voice the Lorax has definitely made the character a wonder to watch.

It's not a matter how old you are, watch "The Lorax" to enjoy the Dr. Seuss' timeless tale as you will be sure to be lightened up by the new breath the animators have given to the classic story and at the same time learn some valuable lessons on the environment.

Apart from the standard 35mm version, "The Lorax" is also available in 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D versions.
