Watch this if you liked: “Yamla Pagla Deewana”, “Golmaal” & “Malamaal Weekly”

"Bol Bachchan" is a remake of a popular 1979 film titled "Golmaal". It's not surprising that Rohit Shetty, the director of the film and also his favorite actor - Ajay Devgan (who also serves as producer of the film), combines and makes a comedy film almost every year. The duo now adds another film to their flock of comedy films done previously which includes "All The Best" (2009) and the "Golmaal" trilogy (2006, 2008 and 2010). This movie also reunites Abhishek Bachchan and Ajay Devgan after a gap of 9 years when they last appeared together in "Zameen" (2003), along with the same director as well.

For the 4.5 stars rating given for its star cast, 3 stars is definitely for Ajay Devgan as his character Prithviraj, delivers crazy dialogues that will keep audiences entertained throughout the film. His outright slaughter of the English language such as "a brother in need is a sister indeed" is matched only by his dedication to motherhood, piety and of course, honesty. Abhishek Bachchan provides a memorable performance both as the 'gay-ish' Abbas Ali and accountant, Abhishek Bachchan (yes, he uses his own name in the film). Asin as Sania was alright, while Radhika (Prachi Desai) was definitely the eye candy of the film. Ravi (Krishna Abhisek) looks very promising as a wonderful comedian while other characters such as Shastri (Asrani), Zohra/Madhumati (Archana Puran Singh) and Prithviraj's sidekick (Neeraj Vora) share some comedy scenes plus also provides the laughs in between and along the way in the film.

The film heavily borrows its premise from the 1979 classic, where it featured the story of man who is forced to rustle up a non-existent 'mustachioed' twin to keep his difficult-to-please employer in good humor, which in the process, creates more fake characters and lies along the way. The twist in this story though was completely out of recognizable shape as it had neither the charming spontaneity nor the delicious subtlety of the original. Also the film also alludes the legend Amitabh Bachchan, in which at every level, skims the surface of its sundry inspirations. Saying all that though, the director did execute the comedy scenes with its crazy dialogues perfectly.

As for the cinematography and effects, if the director would have kept aside his passion for blowing up cars and making it fly high in the air, the premise and plot of the film would have been more meaningful. No doubt the effects were done well but unfortunately, it could have been done without it as well.

Music director Himesh Reshamiya goes back doing what he does best, providing good songs while sharing credits with Ajay-Atul who provided only 1 song for the film. The soundtrack only consists of 3 original songs while the rest are remixes which are definitely as entertaining as the film, but it's the title song which is sang personally by Ajay Devgan, Abhishek Bachchan and Amitabh Bachchan (Yes, he even does cameo role in the song) is the most catchy one.

Overall, the film is very entertaining with cleverly written dialogues and plenty of comedic elements added together. Watch the film for great laughs.
