Shawn Levy's movie "The Internship" tells us that the world we live in today, everything is made obsolete by technology and we are always striving for the best position possible. Billy (Vince Vaughn) and Nick (Owen Wilson) play salesmen whose careers have been torpedoed by the digital world. Trying to prove they are not obsolete, they defy the odds by talking their way into a coveted internship at Google, along with a battalion of brilliant college students. But, gaining entrance to this utopia is only half the battle. Now they must compete with a group of the nation's most elite, tech-savvy geniuses to prove that necessity really is the mother of re-invention.
The general plot was very predictable. This movie is so light that the funnies you hope for only comes once or twice every 15 minutes or so. The film hardly gives you long bouts of laughter, but then again there is not a dull moment in the movie.
As the title points out, this film is all about internships. The film did not feel like it would drag too long as it uses every opportunity it can to amuse and entertain audience, as well as expand on some character development.
The film showcases few new starlets. The level of character development was fair and each character has a distinct personality. The actors played their roles well and nothing felt too out of place.
Generally, it was moderately entertaining for a comedy genre and if you decide to go for a fun movie and learn about how the world of technology works, then this film would fit your criteria. The film shows values like teamwork, friendship and eagerness in exploring new things but after one hour, you can guess how it is going to end.
