Watch this if you liked: “The Hunger Games” & “Divergent”

The Good, the Bad and the Giving:

• Adapted from a novel that precedes both the popular novel-adapted "The Hunger Games" and "Divergent", this film shows that a dystopian future film doesn't need to be as dark and gritty as the aforementioned adaptations.

• The acting is subpar except for Jeff Bridges and Meryl Streep. Streep's character, the Chief Elder, has a much more prominent role in the film than in the novel.

• The film tries to deliver a lesson but does so in a way that adults couldn't care less about it and maybe only a handful of teenagers (the target audience) will heed it.

Trivia:

• In the film, Jonas and his friends are aged up by four years as the characters in the novel are only twelve years old.
