The Good, the Bad and the Visit:

• The story starts out with an interesting premise that soon unfolds into quite a thrilling suspense. For fans of comedy, there are moments here that will make you laugh. Fans of suspense thriller will, of course, enjoy the suspenseful moments. Fans of both will find the balance of both a gem but fans that prefer to have the genres separated will have a hard time deciding to either laugh or scream while watching M. Night Shyamalan's latest offering.

• Deanna Dunagan shines in her character as Nana while Peter McRobbie is comfortable in his quite lax grandpa character. Olivia DeJonge and Ed Oxenbould play the obnoxious siblings a little too well but they do work well together onscreen.

• Those who are used to Shyamalan's calculated and well-framed steady shots might find the found footage (read: shaky camera) method either a refreshing or an unnecessary departure from his usual style. On the one hand, it offers a look at how the director can also control the shots without compromising on the story's delivery. On the other hand, shaky cameras are really annoying to watch.

Trivia:

• M. Night Shyamalan used his fee from 2013's "After Earth" to self-produce this movie. He did so as "an attempt to regain artistic control" since his recent movies have been denied final cut, some were even taken away from him during the editing stage.
