The Good, the Bad and the Rebels:

As usual, a movie adaptation of a book never truly follows the latter version, so fans of the novel trilogy should approach with caution. Having said that, as a movie, "Insurgent" works just fine serving as the sequel to last year's highly successful "Divergent"; which grossed USD288.7 million worldwide. Some may see Tris annoying as she cries and gets upset more this time around. However, it is an understandable reaction on her part, given the grief she feels following the events of the first film; the same grief that prompts her to take action in this film. Those who have watched "The Fault in Our Stars" (and become too engrossed with it) will find a hard time connecting Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort as siblings here since in the aforementioned movie they were star-crossed lovers. Still, this sequel is worth a watch as it is definitely not short on action, not with its gun battle and chase scenes. The visual aesthetics are also pleasing, as the movie is festooned with dramatic CGI effects and beautifully designed sets. The plot may not make much sense, but still enjoyable enough. Unfortunately, since most of the revelations and introductions have been done in the first film, it leaves very little for this sequel to unveil.

Trivia:

Two of the differences between the book and the film are: A) Edgar is a new character that does not exist in the book, B) the box found by Jeanine also doesn't exist in the book version.

Any fan of dystopian films.
