Based upon the novel "A Painted Devil" by Thomas Cullinan and its 1971 film adaptation, an injured Union soldier finds refuge in a Confederate girls` boarding school and becomes the object of the young women`s sexual fantasies. He cons his way into each of the lonely women`s hearts, causing them to turn on each other. But when he refuses to completely comply with the girls` wishes, they make it very difficult for him to leave.

The Good, the Bad and the Innocent Ladies:

• A dark and suspenseful Southern Gothic horror film that explores the genre and feminine charm.

• Gorgeously shot, the movie often looks more like a painting than a film, and the use of sound and silence is impeccable.

• The story is well-paced and is contained in a single setting that is used to great effect.

• The movie might not appeal to all, like how a comedy would, but it is a unique entry as it masterfully turns a mundane story into something so interesting.
