Emily, an American widow who lives on the edge of Hampstead Heath, has trouble focusing on things that need her attention, like her finances and her son. One day, she spots an unkempt hut and the equally unkempt man who lives in it, Donald. Emily witnesses Donald being attacked by thugs and calls the police. The next day, she goes out to search for him. He has lived on the edge of the Heath for years, but now his lifestyle is under threat by the property developers who want to take away his home. Emily finds unexpected love with him and together they take on the developers to protect his home.
