The Florida Project

On a highway just outside the imagined utopia of Disney World, rebellious mother Halley and her six-year-old daughter Moonee live in a budget motel along one of the commercial strips catering to the Disney World tourist clientele outside Orlando, Florida. The motel is managed by Bobby, who may look stern from the outside but is very kind and compassionate on the inside. Halley, who survives largely on welfare, has little respect for people, and her attitude is somehow passed down to Moonee. Despite her harsh surrounding, Moonee manages to make the most of her life each day. Her afternoons are filled with mischief and grand adventure as she and her ragtag playmate Jancey, a new arrival to the area who quickly becomes Moon`s best friend, fearlessly explore the world which they`ve been thrown into. Unknown to Moonee, her fantasy is largely is supported by the toil and sacrifice of Halley, who works hard to provide for her daughter.
