A British con-artist couple flees to America to avoid paying a large debt to a gangster in England. In an attempt to gain money, they turn to their long-time associate for assistance. With the gangster still hot on their trail, the two try to steal some money by plotting an elaborate jewel theft operation involving an ex-wife and a mistress.
