The Comeback Trail

Max Barber, a greedy grindhouse film producer, is in need of a new money-making scheme to pay off his debts to the mob. He comes up with a plan to kill off the lead actor in his dangerous new movie. By masking it as a stunt go wrong, he will be able to collect the insurance money. He hires Duke Montana, a washed-up movie star who is now a depressed old drunk, for the role. Unexpectedly, getting back into acting only revitalises Montana. Max`s plan fails. In fact, he is unwittingly making the best movie of his career as Montana keeps surviving stunt after stunt, no matter how dangerous they get.
