1 May – Director James Cameron confirms plan to re-release 3D blockbuster "Avatar" in cinemas this August 2010 with six minutes of extra footage, before a 4-Disc Blu-ray/DVD set hits stores in November.
Weta is currently working on the effects for the additional footage, but two possible scenes include a segment where Jake Sully's (Sam Worthington) avatar further proves himself to the Na'vi people, and during a native festival where tribe member Tsu'tey gets drunk.
During an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Cameron also revealed that he wanted to create a different environment within the sequel, putting its focus onto "the ocean on Pandora, which will be equally rich and diverse and crazy and imaginative."
Meantime, distributor Twentieth Century Fox in Malaysia and Singapore cannot confirm the details of the "Avatar" re-release in cinemas locally.
Stay tuned for updates.
