Michael Douglas's rep denies oral sex claims

Michael Douglas' rep denies oral sex allegations.

4 Jun – In light of recent rumours about Michael Douglas, oral sex and throat cancer, a representative for the actor denies that the actor said anything about blaming oral sex for giving him throat cancer.

Douglas was diagnosed with stage 4 throat cancer in 2010 and had gone through radiation and chemotherapy treatments. He has since announced a recovery from the disease and spoke out during an interview regarding the matter, which had considerably blown out of proportion.

The publication that posted the interview has presented an audio of the interview to prove their point, and the relevant section is transcribed below:

Xan Brooks: Do you feel, in hindsight, that you overloaded your system? Overloaded your system with drugs, smoking, drink?
Michael Douglas: No. No. Ah, without getting too specific, this particular cancer is caused by something called HPV, which actually comes about from cunnilingus.

According to The Associated Press, "they talked about the causes of oral cancer, one of which was oral sex, which is noted and has been known for a while now."

Michael Douglas recently starred as Liberace in Steven Soderbergh's "Behind The Candelabra".

The actor recently appeared in the well-received film "Behind The Candelabra", directed by Steven Soderbergh. The HBO film is based on Scott Thorson's memoir, "Behind the Candelabra: My Life With Liberace", about the life of pianist Liberace and the secret affair he had with young Thorson.

Douglas will next be seen in "Las Vegas", directed by Jon Turteltaub, also starring Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman and Kevin Kline.
