13 Jun – Fans of the "Ghostbusters" franchise have successfully set a new Guinness World Records title for the Largest Gathering of People Dressed as Ghosts at a Single Venue. "Seeing this many people get their ghost on and set a Guinness World Records title is a true testament to this amazing franchise that Dan, Harold and Ivan created 32 years ago," said "Ghostbusters" director Paul Feig. "Fortunately, I ain't afraid of no ghosts because we were up to our armpits in them. Ghostbusters of the world, gear up!" A total of 263 fans, dressed in costumes that incorporated the franchise "no ghost" icon in their design, took part in the record-breaking event held at The Event Plaza at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore last weekend.
The fans later attended a gala red-carpet event, joined by Feig himself as well "Ghostbusters" star Melissa McCarthy. The 'ghostly' event was organised by Sony Pictures Entertainment in anticipation of the release of the upcoming "Ghostbusters", a reboot that features an all-female cast including McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon. Also joining the ladies in the movie is Australian actor Chris Hemsworth ("Thor", "The Avengers") as their dimwitted secretary. "Ghostbusters" is scheduled for release on 14 July 2016.
