"Mirror Mirror" actress Lily Collins could star in a zombie version of the Austen classic.

The unexpected 2009 book hit, "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies".

3 May – The Jane Austen reimagination "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies", written by Seth Grahame-Smith in 2009 was a surprise mash-up hit which is now finally on its way to Hollywood with Lily Collins on board.

The 24-year-old actress was most recently seen in "Stuck in Love", "The Blind Side", "Mirror Mirror" and is the lead in the highly anticipated adaptation of "The Mortal Instruments" with Jamie Campbell Bower.

"Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" follows the titular character Elizabeth Bennett and her four sisters (just like in the original Austen classic), who live in an alternate universe of Regency Era England. Unlike typical Regency Era activities, the Bennett sisters learn weapons training and martial arts from Mr. Bennett, in order to protect themselves from a zombie 'plague'.

Burr Steers is signed on to direct. His most recent work includes directing "Charlie St. Cloud".

Initially the project was in development with David O. Russell eyed to direct, Natalie Portman as the lead and Lionsgate distributing. Book author Seth Grahame-Smith who previously wrote the screenplay for his book "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" is also expected to lead the screenplay for "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies".
