5 Oct – Though it's still just a rumour circulating around, Dominic Cooper is reportedly linked to play rock god Freddie Mercury in his biopic, replacing Sacha Baron Cohen who left the production. Daniel Radcliffe was also link to play Mercury but the actor denied it pretty quickly. The film is slow in getting off the ground after Baron Cohen dropped out due to "creative differences" with surviving Queen band members Brian May and Roger Taylor. The "Borat" actor reportedly wanted an R-rated, hard version about the late Queen front-man. "We don't want the film to be a joke," explained Taylor, "We felt Sacha probably wasn't right in the end."
Dominic Cooper is a well-known British actor who is known for several period drama television roles, but has also had some successful roles on the big screen like "Mama Mia!", "Captain America: The First Avenger", and "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter". Though he might not look like Freddie Mercury as much as Sacha Baron Cohen does, the guy can sing. But now it all depends on how difficult Brian May and Roger Taylor are going to be about the final choice of the actor. There was also talk to bring in directors David Fincher and Tom Hooper, but May and Taylor apparently did not approve of them either.
