28 Jan – Famed American toy company Hasbro recently revealed that it will begin working on a new range of toys based on the "Indiana Jones" franchise.

The news was revealed by the company on 26 January, saying that it has extended its relationship with the franchise's studio, Lucasfilm as well as its parent company, Disney.

"We're proud to deepen our close working relationship and collaborate with the Disney team to bring innovative and engaging play experiences to kids, fans, and families inspired by some of the world's most iconic entertainment brands," said Hasbro's Chief Consumer Officer, Eric Nyman.

"In addition to a slate of new collectibles, figures, role play gear, and games for Star Wars and Marvel, it's an honour to bring Indiana Jones back to Hasbro and help introduce the beloved franchise to a new generation of fans."

This is an interesting development, seeing that Lucasfilm is set to release its fifth Indiana Jones movie in June next year.

Hasbro last worked with Lucasfilm for Indiana Jones-related products in 2008, when it released a series of toys coinciding with the release of "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull". It has also released products for the studio's other franchise, "Star Wars", as well as Marvel's action figures.
